This week we are hosting the incredible Emily & Erik of The Center for Imaginative Cartography and Research and they have a lot of magic up their sleeves!
COMMUNITY COOK BOOK (today thru Monday) : follow the instructions below or stop into the shop!
The Center request your participation in their ongoing project Community Cook Book—an online collection of everyday, home-tested mealtime standards. To participate, record one recipe on the front side of a single piece of paper. Scan or photograph the recipe and email it to firstname.lastname@example.org. Or, if you’re in Grand Rapids, stop into the shop and write one out in person.
The recipe itself should be of a go to dish that you cook often—for yourself and for others. Along with ingredients and instructions, please include your name and location. All submitted recipes will be compiled, organized, and uploaded onto their website
The project is inspired by the published recipe collections historically amassed by neighbors, friends, and social groups. Beyond the desire to share in the co-production of a “local” home cuisine, these publications served to demarcate temporary networks of proximity, association, and heritage. Community Cook Book hopes to participate in this tradition
POTLUCK + ZINE SHARE (Sunday, 6:30pm) : join us for a Sunday evening potluck and zine share at the shop! Erik & Emily are bread-bakers and zine-makers and are super interested in learning more about Grand Rapids, the people who live here, the food they prepare, and stories they tell. Bring a zine, bring some food, bring a friend, or just bring yourself and we’ll have a great time!
